the fine print

privacy policy.

mei skin studio runs this website. this page explains what happens to your information when you visit it.

the short version: this site collects very little, we don't sell anything to anyone, and there are no advertising trackers here.

information collection and use

what you give us. the appointment request form on this site asks for your name, email, and optionally your phone number, which treatment you're interested in, and when suits you. when you send it, that goes straight to our studio inbox as an email. it isn't stored in a database, and it isn't passed to any advertising or marketing company.

please don't send skin conditions, medications, or other health details through the form — we go through all of that with you in person at your first visit, where it belongs.

when you email or message us, we keep that correspondence so we can reply, book you in, and remember your skin history between visits.

what's collected automatically. basic technical information about your visit:

  • which pages you looked at, and for how long
  • the site or search that sent you here
  • your rough region — city or country level, never a precise address
  • browser and device type

we look at this in aggregate to understand which parts of the site are useful. it isn't used to build a profile of you.

cookies and local storage

this site sets no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

the one thing stored in your browser is a small flag remembering that you entered the preview password, so you aren't asked for it on every page. it lives on your device, is never sent to us, and clearing your browsing data removes it.

third-party services

two services are involved in serving this site:

  • vercel — hosts the website and provides its visitor analytics. the analytics are cookie-free and don't follow you to other sites.
  • google fonts — serves the typefaces used here. as part of loading them, your ip address is visible to google.

we don't run advertising pixels, and nothing about your visit is shared with advertisers.

your choices and rights

under british columbia's personal information protection act and canada's PIPEDA, you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it.

email us and we'll respond within 30 days. there's no charge for a reasonable request.

security

we take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold, and we keep as little of it as possible — the less that exists, the less there is to lose.

that said, no method of transmitting information over the internet is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

changes to this privacy policy

if this policy changes, the updated version will appear on this page with a new date at the top. material changes will be flagged on the site.
